WELCOME TO SMITH HALL MEADOW

Glamping in Derbyshire

entrance_edited.jpg

Smith Hall Meadow was established by Tania and Andy in 2020. The aim was to create sustainable and ecologically sound accommodation for families and couples, from where  they could enjoy all that the Derbyshire countryside has to offer. Sorry we can not accommodate pets such as dogs, as we are surrounded by farm land.

Smith Hall Meadow sits within a three acre plot.  It is surrounded by countryside.  It is home to two Luna bell tents that sit in their own large pitch. There are many species of birds that  visit this area from small to large.  Commonly we  see buzzards and kites soaring overhead and, in respect of them, we decided to name our tents 'Buzzard' and 'Kite'.

We welcome families and couples who wish to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.  Being under canvas is so relaxing, having nature all around and sleeping under the stars.  However, glamping is even better!  Not only do you get the joy of being 'away from it all' but here at Smith Hall Meadow, you also get the  comfort of a real bed, room to move about easily, a private bathroom and toilet, electric lights and warmth from the wood burning stove. There is also a dining area from where you can watch the world go by.

We wanted to create accommodation that fitted comfortably into its surroundings and a landscape that supported local fauna and flora.  So we set about developing a wildflower meadow and planted native plants to enhance what was already here.  We have mown paths , that meander through the meadow, which allow guests to wander through or sit for a while to enjoy the  wildlife.  We have  also dug out a wildlife pond to accommodate the newts, frogs, bugs and birds that visit.

Cars are parked away from the tents and there is a large area in which children can play safely and freely, without disturbing the tents.

Smith Hall Meadow has a dedicated entrance  and we are keen that you enjoy your stay without being disturbed.  However, should you need us we are on hand and easily contactable.  Should you want to share a break with friends and family, there is the option to book the entire site and pitch additional tents that share the use of the facilities.  (please contact us with regards to pricing).

The site is mainly set up for couples, families  or family groups to enjoy  a break together. It is not suitable for those who wish to 'party the time away', we are, however, happy to discuss stays for  small groups of adults who want to relax and enjoy all the countryside.

Smith Hall Meadow is situated just outside of Hulland Ward village, close to the market towns of Ashbourne and Wirksworth within the Derbyshire Dales.   It is  the gateway to the White and Dark Peak areas Derbyshire Dales  and Peak District National Park.
